  • Technology Services Engineer – Data Protection & Disaster Recovery

Immediate need for a Data Protection & Disaster Recovery Technical Services Engineer!

What You’ll Do: Own backup, restore, and resiliency outcomes across MSP client base—serving as the primary technical liaison for Veeam Backup & Replication, and monitoring/compliance. You will design and operate 3-2-1 strategies, tune jobs and retention to meet RPO/RTO targets, execute regular recovery tests and DR runbooks, and lead incident response and escalations with clear client-facing communication. This position will assist with server administration tasks such as patching, maintenance, and reboot schedules. This is a full-time, in-office role that partners closely with engineering on L2–L3 issues and RCA to continuously improve reliability and compliance.

    Responsibilities:
    · Own backup, restore, and resiliency outcomes for all MSP clients; act as the primary technical liaison for backup/DR platforms and service delivery.
    · Veeam platform ownership: design, configure, and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication (SOBR, backup copy, replication, Instant Recovery, SureBackup labs); manage repositories, retention, encryption, and job health.
    · Immutable off-site copies: build and operate (bucket policies, retention/immutability, lifecycle/usage controls) as the off-site tier.
    · Monitoring & compliance reporting: implement and tune end-to-end success/failure monitoring, alerting/escalation, daily health checks, and compliance evidence packs.
    · 3-2-1 architectures: design and run three-copy / two-media / one off-site strategies using NAS appliances (QNAP/Synology) for local copy and off-site; document RPO/RTO per workload.
    · Recovery testing & documentation: execute regular restore drills (file/VM/app-item, Instant Recovery, SureBackup verification), record results, and maintain DR runbooks with clear owners and contact trees.
    · Incident response & escalation: lead backup/restore and DR events (containment, comms, status cadence, executive updates), perform RCA, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
    · Optimization & capacity planning: forecast storage and license consumption (SOBR extents, NAS growth, usage), reduce failure rates, and tune schedules/windows for performance and cost.
    · Automation & tooling: script deployments and reporting (e.g., PowerShell/API) for job creation, compliance checks, and evidence generation; improve alert fidelity and self-healing where practical.
    · Server & platform coordination: align with server/virtualization teams on patch cycles, maintenance windows, and planned reboots to protect backup integrity and meet SLAs.
    · Security & governance: enforce RBAC/least privilege, MFA, key handling, and immutability standards; maintain audit-ready artifacts for SOC 2/HIPAA and client policies.
    · Collaboration & L2–L3 support: partner with internal engineering on escalations and root-cause analysis; provide clear remediation plans and client-facing service reviews with metrics.
    · KPI ownership: track and publish backup success %, restore SLAs, test cadence, RPO/RTO attainment, immutable coverage %, and time-to-resolve—surfacing risks and improvement opportunities.
    · Documentation hygiene: keep runbooks, inventories, schedules, and change records current in the knowledge base; ensure clean ticket/time entry in PSA.
    · Participate in on-call/escalation rotations as required.

    What You’ll Bring:

    · 2+ years in an MSP setting focused on backup/DR and Windows server environments.
    · Deep Veeam proficiency. VMCE Cert is a plus.
    · Solid grounding in Windows Server/AD, virtualization (preferably Hyper-V, working knowledge of VMware), storage (SMB/NFS, iSCSI), networking basics, and change control.
    · PowerShell and basic API/JSON skills to automate deployments, checks, and reports.
    · Security & compliance mindset: RBAC/least privilege, MFA, encryption in transit/at rest, audit artifacts for SOC 2/HIPAA.
    · Excellent documentation and incident communications; willing to support maintenance windows/on-call.

Work Location: Onsite in the Alpharetta/John’s Creek area.

    Why You’ll Love Working Here:
Impactful work: your projects directly support the systems that power healthcare delivery.
Close collaboration with experienced engineers and IT leaders across infrastructure, cloud, and security.
Opportunity to shape and scale project delivery practices in a growing MSP environment.
Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) match), and robust PTO.
