    BI Analyst
    Contract to Hire Position
    Location:
    Addison, TX (N. Dallas area)
    Work Arrangement:
3 days per week onsite (Tues, Wed, Thur)

    About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a hands-on Business Intelligence Analyst to help own and evolve a modern Microsoft-based analytics environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building reports, developing semantic models, working directly with stakeholders, and turning data into actionable insights.

You’ll join a team that has already made significant investments in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Lakehouses, and modern analytics tooling. Rather than building from scratch, you’ll step into an established environment and play a key role in shaping the future direction of reporting and business intelligence.

This is not a “requirements gathering only” role. The ideal candidate enjoys developing solutions, building reports and dashboards, making technical decisions, and taking ownership of BI initiatives from concept through deployment.

    What You’ll Do

    • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
    • Build and support semantic models using Power BI best practices.
    • Create DAX measures, calculations, and KPIs that support business decision-making.
    • Use Power Query and SQL to transform, model, and prepare data for reporting.
    • Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver solutions.
    • Publish, maintain, and support production reporting assets.
    • Help optimize and enhance existing Power BI and Fabric solutions.
    • Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams on data sourcing and reporting strategy.
    • Provide guidance on reporting standards, data governance, and BI best practices.
    • Contribute to the long-term direction of the organization’s analytics and reporting capabilities.

    Required Qualifications

    • 3-6 years of experience developing Power BI solutions.
    • Strong hands-on experience with:
      • Power BI
      • DAX
      • Power Query
      • SQL
      • Semantic Modeling
    • Experience developing reports and dashboards in a business or enterprise environment.
    • Strong understanding of data modeling and reporting best practices.
    • Ability to work independently and own projects from requirements through deployment.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with business users and stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
    • Experience working with Lakehouses, data pipelines, or modern cloud-based analytics platforms.
    • Exposure to Azure SQL or Azure data technologies.
    • Experience with source control, Azure DevOps, or Git-based development practices.
    • Background supporting operations, supply chain, sales, finance, or distribution reporting environments.

    What Success Looks Like

    • Becoming a trusted owner of the Power BI environment.
    • Delivering reliable, business-focused reporting solutions.
    • Helping modernize and improve existing dashboards, models, and reporting processes.
    • Collaborating effectively with both technical and business teams.
    • Providing recommendations and guidance instead of simply executing requests.
    • Driving consistency, usability, and adoption across the reporting ecosystem.

    Why This Role Is Interesting

    • High level of ownership and visibility.
    • Opportunity to help shape the future of a growing BI function.
    • Modern Microsoft analytics stack including Power BI and Fabric.
    • Strong investment in data, analytics, cloud technologies, and AI initiatives.
    • Ability to influence reporting standards, solution design, and platform direction without needing to be a senior architect.
    • This is an excellent opportunity for a Power BI professional who enjoys building solutions, taking ownership, and working in an environment that values modern analytics and continuous improvement.
