    Business Analyst – Life Insurance Underwriting – Springfield, MA

    Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

    Serve as a Business Analysts for projects, applications and technologies within Protection New Business and Underwriting. Directly support the overall Underwriting organization with a focus on our Platform Modernization. Role includes gathering, synthesizing and documenting business requirements, rules configurations and UAT testing requirements. Underwriting platform experience. Must be able to work in a dynamic, matrixed organization, bringing together the perspectives of many and the End-to-End requirements across the customer experience for business sign-off and implementation.

    Job Description

    As a Business Analyst, you will drive translating business needs into the requirements for Processes and Technology to execute on supporting our customer and employee experiences. To be successful, you will:

    • Document business requirements with detailed technical specifications
    • Understand process flows and ensure interconnectivity of systems and applications
    • Act as a liaison between Underwriting and other teams and advocate for necessary changes
    • Translate customer and employee needs into documented, actionable solutions with clear measurement mechanisms in service of business outcomes
    • Provide proper documentation for the Product team to prioritize features and enhancements against a prioritization framework
    • Support Business owner, Product Manager and peers to align requirements to roadmaps
    • Proactively identify opportunities to improve business processes by maintaining a strong knowledge of available and upcoming features delivered by external vendors
    • Update procedural and processes changes
    • Ensure development outputs meet business expectations by maintaining strong cross-functional relationships with technical and architecture teams
    • Keep change management principles in mind, to work with the team to establish launch readiness in response to system and process updates
    • Work independently and with management on highly visible, divisional/cross-divisional complex products and projects
    • Be sought as a key resource for documentation of unique or complex business problems
    • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility

    Skills: Required Qualifications:

    • 7+ years experience supporting projects and driving execution of complex technical work
    • Business Analyst experience for Underwriting systems
    • Understanding of Waterfall and Agile processes and documentation
    • Strong requirements documentation skills
    • Bachelors Degree
    • Ability to think strategically
    • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and organizations

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Individual who enjoys solving complex problems and improving team processes
    • Insurance / underwriting knowledge
    • Exposure to customer experience/user experience practices

    As a Full Stack Developer, you will collaborate with other technology experts to transform business processes.

    • Lead the design and development of full-stack applications using React, Node.js, and other modern JavaScript frameworks.

    Skills: The Minimum Qualifications

    • 8+ years of experience in software development and/or engineering, with a strong focus on financial services.
    • Strong proficiency in React.js, Node.js, and core JavaScript (ES6+).
    • Experience with Redux, Express.js, TypeScript, and other relevant libraries.
    • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Strong knowledge of security best practices, especially in handling sensitive financial data.

    • Excellent mentoring skills and the desire to contribute to efforts beyond the scope of the day-to-day project work.
    • Proven ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced team members.
    • Experience in AWS cloud application design, development, and deployment.
    • Experience with event streaming and web service protocols like SOAP, REST, JSON, or Kafka
    • General working knowledge of insurance data, investment data and /or financial data
    • Experience in working with and enabling integrations with vendor / SaaS platforms

    The Ideal Qualifications

    • Experience with real-time data processing, event-driven architectures, or message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
    • Knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
    • Exposure to regulatory frameworks such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, or SOX.

    Searching for a training coordinator to support our SAP S/4HANA implementation.

     

    This role is primarily administrative in nature, focusing on scheduling, coordination, and tracking of training activities. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of SAP Enable Now and Workday Learning to assist in content deployment and training pathway creation. The training and learning coordinator will work closely with the Change Manager and Learning Consultant to execute the learning plan.

     

    About the Role

    This role is primarily administrative in nature, focusing on scheduling, coordination, and tracking of training activities.

     

    40 hours per week, hybrid onsite 3 days a week in Springfield, MA OR Boston, MA. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate training sessions with super users and stakeholders.

    • Track attendance and maintain accurate training records.
    • Support content updates and deployment using SAP Enable Now.

    Expense Accounting Specialist

    This is a specialist role focused on mastering our client’s expense allocation process. In this position, you will partner closely with the current specialist, gaining a deep understanding of their responsibilities, reporting requirements, and control framework. The goal of this engagement is to build redundancy and free up capacity during a critical strategic project.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Learn and manage the client’s existing expense allocation model and related processes.

    • Support journal entry creation, validation, and posting to SAP.

    • Maintain rigorous accounting controls and reconciliations.

    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver timely and accurate expense reporting.

    Required Skills & Experience

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel expertise – able to navigate, audit, and enhance complex financial models.

    • Strong financial modeling and allocation experience – familiarity with waterfall mechanics, allocation methodologies, and cost drivers.

    • Journal entry proficiency – creating, balancing, validating, and posting entries.

    • SAP experience – preferably R/3 or S/4HANA, including GLSU knowledge.

    • Experience with complex accounting controls and reconciliations.

    • Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional engagement and reporting.

    Model Overview

    The current model consists of three interlinked Excel files that intake detailed actual expenses and process them through a series of allocation waterfalls to produce fully allocated expense results. These outputs generate journal entries that post directly into SAP.

    Education

    An ideal candidate will have an educational background that blends accounting, financial modeling, and cost allocation principles—comparable to the development of overhead application rates covered in cost or managerial accounting courses.
