Sr. Application Architect

We are seeking a Senior Application Architect to lead the design, modernization, and delivery of enterprise applications. This role will partner with business and technology leaders to define architecture strategies, modernize legacy systems, establish engineering standards, and guide development teams in building secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions across cloud and hybrid environments.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on architecture expertise with strong leadership skills and a proven track record of leading large-scale modernization initiatives.

Note: Candidates must reside in Georgia or be willing to relocate. Sponsorship is not available.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Modernization

• Assess legacy applications and recommend modernization strategies, including refactoring, replatforming, rehosting, replacement, or retirement.
• Design target-state architectures, integration patterns, data flows, and security models.
• Develop phased modernization roadmaps that support business continuity.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture and engineering teams to align solutions with organizational standards.

Solution Design & Delivery

• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable architecture designs.
• Create and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical standards.
• Guide engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle to ensure solutions meet performance, reliability, and security requirements.
• Support production readiness, testing, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making.

API & Integration Strategy

• Define API standards, lifecycle management, and governance practices.
• Design event-driven architectures and integration solutions.
• Evaluate messaging, streaming, and integration platforms.
• Establish monitoring, tracing, and observability standards.

Technical Leadership

• Lead architecture reviews and promote best practices for scalability, resiliency, and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and junior architects through coaching and code reviews.
• Develop proof-of-concepts and evaluate emerging technologies and vendor solutions.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and SRE teams to ensure production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

• 10+ years of software engineering and application architecture experience.
• 3-4+ years serving as a Lead or Senior Application Architect on large-scale modernization initiatives.
• Experience designing complex enterprise applications across multiple technologies and platforms.
• Strong ability to prioritize work, solve complex problems, and make sound technical decisions.
