The Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst provides ongoing software management support as part of an IT Asset Management (ITAM) team. This role supports team members across the organization with software requests and orders while ensuring adherence to processes, strategies, and technologies that support the full lifecycle management of desktop software assets for corporate business units worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily operational processes for software management with minimal supervision.
- Support internal and external mailboxes, assisting internal customers with software-related issues and external vendors with quotes or inquiries.
- Review software licenses and entitlements in collaboration with procurement partners to ensure compliance with vendor contracts.
- Manage the request lifecycle, ensuring timely processing from request to installation.
- Facilitate new software product requests for approval or decline.
- Maintain accurate data in the software catalog as requests change or new products are added.
- Update the Orders Management system with quotes and financials related to software orders.
- Execute internal chargebacks to align budgets with software purchases.
- Process annual software renewals and maintain data within the Software Renewals Dashboard.
- Contribute to and enhance daily processes related to software asset management, including updating SAM Asset Management policies annually.
- Perform software true-ups for license retrieval, budget adjustments, and renewals.
- Collaborate with technical support teams to resolve license key and subscription-related inquiries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners across operations, procurement, finance, and team member support to ensure smooth interdepartmental processes.
- Participate in and contribute to Software Asset Management projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of four years of experience in IT Asset Management or Software Management.
- Strong multitasking skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation and research skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.).
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
- Understanding of IT Service Management processes and Software Asset Management principles.
- Experience working with procurement, finance, and vendors.
- Familiarity with IT software management.
- ITIL Certification.
