Position: Lead QA Engineer
About the Role
This role leads the organization’s quality function and plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our products. As Quality Assurance Manager, you will guide a multidisciplinary QA team while partnering closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to embed quality throughout design, development, and release cycles.
The successful candidate is both a people leader and a hands-on quality expert—comfortable setting strategy while staying close to execution across software, cloud, mobile, and IoT platforms.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Team Leadership & Operations
- Direct the day-to-day activities of the QA team, ensuring work aligns with business priorities and delivery timelines.
- Recruit, coach, mentor, and evaluate QA team members to build a high-performing and engaged group.
- Establish clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and drive professional growth within the team.
- Promote ethical conduct and adherence to company standards across all QA practices.
Quality Ownership & Strategy
- Define and own quality standards, processes, and acceptance criteria across all product lines.
- Drive a unified quality strategy spanning hardware, firmware, wireless IoT, mobile applications, backend services, databases, and AWS-based infrastructure.
- Ensure quality considerations are integrated at every stage of the product lifecycle—from concept through launch and post-release.
- Lead risk evaluations and implement mitigation plans to reduce quality and reliability issues.
Testing Practices & Technical Scope
- Oversee manual and automated testing efforts, including functional, regression, performance, load, and security testing.
- Guide end-to-end testing for complex, distributed systems involving cloud services, mobile platforms, and proprietary IoT devices.
- Ensure strong test coverage by leveraging knowledge of system architecture, data models, infrastructure layers, and client applications.
- Evaluate, select, and roll out new QA tools and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Measurement, Reporting & Improvement
- Track and analyze defect trends, test execution progress, and product quality metrics.
- Provide regular status reports and KPI updates on quality and reliability to senior leadership (bi-weekly).
- Lead root cause investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain detailed and accurate quality artifacts, including test plans, execution reports, and defect documentation.
Collaboration & Compliance
- Act as a key partner to engineering, product management, operations, and customer support teams.
- Incorporate customer and stakeholder feedback into continuous quality improvements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and formal quality reviews as needed.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years in Quality Assurance roles, including at least 3 years leading or managing QA teams.
- Demonstrated experience delivering quality for complex, multi-platform products.
Technical Expertise
- Strong command of modern QA methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
- Experience designing and maintaining automated test solutions using tools such as Cypress, Appium, or similar platforms.
- Hands-on familiarity with defect tracking, monitoring, and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, BrowserStack, Firebase, AWS CloudWatch).
- Knowledge of performance, load, and security testing techniques.
- Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum environments, with exposure to Waterfall methodologies.
