Director of Product, Platform

Job description

Director of Product Management

100% Remote

About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Product to help build and scale a brand new product organization while turning bold vision into real outcomes. Reporting to the VP of Product, this leader will guide strategy and execution across a suite of consumer-facing digital products, with a major focus on developing and scaling our grocery e‑commerce platform and supporting systems.

This role requires someone who can bridge strategy and delivery: someone who understands the why, defines the what, and leads teams to deliver the how. You will partner closely with engineering, design, analytics, marketing, operations, and store teams to build seamless, high-performing experiences that drive acquisition, engagement, retention, and operational excellence across all customer touchpoints.

The ideal candidate brings deep e‑commerce and grocer domain expertise, strong understanding of API-driven and microservices architectures, and the ability to operate in fast-changing environments while building the foundations of a high-performing Product organization.

Key Responsibilities

Product Leadership and Strategy

• Own end-to-end outcomes for assigned product areas, including problem definition, product framing, delivery, iteration, and measurable impact.
• Translate long-term product vision into a clear, prioritized roadmap for consumer experiences, grocer operations, and the grocery e‑commerce platform.
• Convert strategic direction into actionable execution plans that balance innovation, technical feasibility, operational constraints, and user value.
• Define clear value propositions and use them to guide decision-making and prioritization.
• Manage tradeoffs across scope, quality, speed, and resources with strong product judgment.

Execution and Delivery

• Lead disciplined product development practices including road mapping, requirements definition, sprint planning, QA, release management, and post-launch analysis.
• Own delivery of high-priority initiatives across web, mobile, email, in-store digital, and additional channels that support the grocer business.
• Oversee development and scaling of the grocery e‑commerce platform, including browse, search, cart, checkout, fulfillment, delivery, and order management workflows.
• Ensure strong partnership with engineering, design, analytics, marketing, and operations to deliver cohesive and reliable end-to-end experiences.

Customer, Market, and Grocer Insights

• Ground product direction in a deep understanding of user needs, shopping behaviors, and friction points throughout the grocery journey.
• Use behavioral data, research, experimentation, and operational insights from stores and fulfillment teams to inform product decisions.
• Translate insights into opportunities that improve conversion, AOV, retention, and customer satisfaction, while supporting the operational realities of a grocer environment.

Cross-Functional Alignment

• Serve as the primary point of alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, Analytics, Marketing, and Operations.
• Establish shared understanding of goals, priorities, and constraints across teams.
• Identify risks early, resolve misalignment, and help teams navigate complexity while maintaining delivery momentum.
• Clearly communicate progress, decisions, and learnings to leadership and cross-functional partners.

Measurement and Learning

• Define success metrics and ensure teams track and analyze performance over time.
• Use data, experimentation, and qualitative insights to guide iteration and improve product decisions.
• Carry learnings forward to strengthen future strategy, execution, and delivery practices.

Team Leadership and Organizational Development

• Lead and develop Product Managers within a growing product organization.
• Create a culture of high performance, accountability, clarity, and continuous improvement.
• Set goals and KPIs for direct reports; provide coaching, mentorship, and actionable feedback.
• Assess team structure and implement processes that support a scaling organization.

Operational Excellence

• Establish scalable, repeatable processes that improve predictability, quality, and speed across product development.
• Introduce systems and operational structures that support a growing grocer and e‑commerce platform.
• Ensure strong prioritization, alignment, and risk management across initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• 7 to 10+ years of experience in Product Management with sustained ownership of cross-functional, outcome-driven product areas.
• Demonstrated success shipping and iterating consumer-facing products that improved engagement, conversion, adoption, operational efficiency, or performance.
• Deep experience in e‑commerce environments; experience supporting grocer, retail, or marketplace businesses is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of API-driven systems, microservices, platform-level architecture, and scaling complex digital products.
• Proven ability to operationalize executive-level strategy into structured execution plans.
• Analytical mindset with experience using data, experimentation, and performance indicators to guide decisions.
• Clear communicator who can align partners and articulate rationale, direction, and tradeoffs.
• Experience working within cross-functional teams using modern tools such as Asana, Figma, Contentful, and analytics platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in mission-driven or resource-driven organizations.
• Familiarity with martech, CRM, messaging, and automation tools that support lifecycle engagement.
• Exposure to AI-enabled personalization, recommendations, or operational optimization.
• Experience with SEO-informed product decisions, content-led growth, and personalization strategies at scale.
• Comfort working with CMS-driven experiences, landing pages, and experimentation frameworks.
